Engaging learner in large group online teaching

Adapting student centered teaching methods will improve both the facilitator- learner and learner – learner interactions. Educators involved in online teaching should possess skills in innovative student centred methods. The use of interactive lectures can promote active learning, heighten attention and motivation, give feedback to the teacher and the student, and increase satisfaction for both. The question most of us online teachers ask ourselves at least once is: "How can I make the online classroom experience more exciting for my students?” Multiple methods, which are used offline, can be used online, to make the lectures effective. In this workshop, introduction of activity by using questioning, brainstorming, buzzgroups, audience response, idea maps, gaming techniques, one minute paper, confusion, jigsaw technique and many more techniques will be discussed in detail.
